What is a League of Legends match?

A LoL match is a contest between two teams of five players on the Summoner's Rift map. In professional play a series usually consists of several games (Bo1, Bo3 or Bo5); the team that wins the majority of games wins the series.

How long does a LoL game last?

Around 25–35 minutes on average at the professional level. Fast games can end in under 20 minutes, while drawn-out games can exceed 45 minutes. A Bo3 series usually takes 1–2 hours and a Bo5 between 2 and 4 hours.

What is the win condition in League of Legends?

The first team to destroy the enemy Nexus wins the game. To reach the Nexus a team must destroy the turrets and inhibitor on at least one lane. A team can also win if the opponent surrenders.

How many players are on each team?

Each team fields five starting players in five roles: Top, Jungle, Mid, Bot (ADC) and Support. Teams usually also have substitutes and coaches.
